N/A | Halloween Freddy Krueger Pack, NIghtmare Tower |
Nightmare Freddy Krueger is one of the more lethal adversaries the kombatants may face in battle. After choosing a victim, Freddy will stop at nothing once he goes on a rampage.
Strategy[]
At the start of the match, a random opponent will be trapped in a nightmare, allowing Freddy to deal 'nightmarish' damage to that opponent. The 'nightmarish' damage is actually simply lethal blows, where damage is tripled upon triggering. In other words, Freddy has lethal chance against the opponent that was trapped. The trapped opponent will be identified with a unique filter and eerie music accompanying it, Freddy must be tagged in to identify. Once identified, he can use his SP1, "Nightmare Slash" to snare them, preventing them from trying to escape. His passive can be triggered twice if he's equipped with his own Glove, allowing Freddy to deal lethal damage against two different foes.
While not fighting against an opponent that's trapped in a nightmare, Freddy and other Netherrealm teammates will have critical chance on basic attacks, giving them a slight edge in offense.
His SP2, "Dream Glove" will grant Shield upon use and will hit only once. It can be amplified by achieving certain thresholds on its mini-game: 50%+ will cause it to hit twice, 80%+ will make it hit three times, and finally, at 90%+ it will become unblockable.
After Update 2.0, Freddy can now trap an additional opponent in a nightmare if put together in a full Nightmare team with Jason Voorhees/Nightmare and Leatherface/Nightmare. This coupled with his own Glove will essentially grant him permanent lethal chance against the entire enemy team, allowing him to deal consistent, heavy damage to them.
With the addition of the Jump Rope Song of the Nightmare Tower set, not only does Freddy's offensive capabilities increase but he also gains the ability to stun on his SP1. This must be done unblocked and when paired with Leatherface, has a chance to call him in for an assist, dealing free heavy damage. If Leatherface has the Family Tools equipped, he'll gain permanent Enraged at low health, which would make his assist even deadlier than it already is.
Interactions[]
Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Freddy Krueger. Having a card that "counters" Freddy Krueger does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good With[]
- Nightmare teammates.
- Mileena/Vampiress: Mileena increases damage of Netherrealm teammates against bleeding opponents.
- Noob Saibot/MK11: Noob Saibot increases crit and lethal damage of Netherrealm characters.
- Shinnok/Vengeful: Shinnok gives Freddy Krueger an additional 20% critical chance.
- Shadow Sash equipment: With Freddy's Shield on his special attack 2, this equipment makes Freddy take even less damage from opponent's special attacks.
- Bi-Han's Tormentor, Princess Guard and Drahmin's Mask (FW only) equipments: These equipments can further boost Freddy's lethal blow chance.
Good Against[]
- Kenshi/Elder God & Kitana/Assassin: These characters are immune to crits, but still vulnerable to Freddy's Lethals.
Countered By[]
- Characters and equipments that can apply Shield Break.
- Cassie Cage/Undercover & Johnny Cage/Strike Force: Both characters deal more damage against Netherrealm characters, with Johnny spreading this boost with his Strike Force teammates.
- Cassie Cage/Strike Force: She enables herself and her Strike Force teammates to become immune to the lethal blows from Freddy's lethal attacks every time they tag. Cassie can also Power Drain and Slow Freddy on Tag, which leaves Freddy vulnerable to many attacks.
- Jacqui Briggs/Cybernetic & Scorpion/Hellspawn: Both characters take less damage from Netherrealm characters. Scorpion is also immune to critical attacks.
- Jade/MK11, Raiden/Dark & Liu Kang/Klassic: All of these characters will heal from Freddy Krueger's Fire on X-Ray with Jade spreading this to MK11 teammates.
- Jade/Klassic: Jade and her Klassic teammates are immune to Snare.
- Liu Kang/Fire God: Liu Kang can heal and get Dragon Fire from Freddy's Fire.
- Kintaro/Shokan Warrior: Kintaro reduces the effectiveness of Freddy's Fire on X-Ray.
- Scorpion/Kold War: Scorpion is immune to Freddy’s Fire on X-Ray.
- Respirator equipment: This equipment reduces damage of both critical and lethal attacks.
- Killer Jacket equipment: This equipment has a chance to activate Shield if wearer receives lethal blow.
