Strategy
At the start of the fight (or the first time Jacqui enters the fight), her Passive lets you choose one of the six different costumes (which resembles the classic costumes for some other Mortal Kombat fighters) that gives her situational advantages. Here is a full list of avaliable costumes (from left to right in battle):
- Purple (Rain) - Gains Dispel for SP1 and +50% Basic Damage vs Outworld characters
- Yellow (Scorpion) - Gains Fire for SP2 and Combo Ender and Burning Status inflicted vs Spec Ops characters has Amped Power Drain
- Blue (Sub-Zero) - Gains Frostbite for SP1 and Combo Ender and +50% Critical Damage vs Outworld characters
- Brown (Tremor) - Gains Stun for SP2 and +30% Lethal Blow chance vs Netherrealm characters
- Green (Reptile) - Gains Blind and Grapple for SP2 and Poison for Combo Ender and Constant Poison Aura vs Martial Arts characters
- Red (Ermac) - Gains Vampirism for SP2 and Tag-in attack and Reflect damage from Blocked Specials vs Netherrealm characters
Each costume also changes either her Special 1 or Special 2 abilities - for example, the Sub-Zero costume changes her Special 1 to apply Frostbite and her Special 2 in Ermac's costume inflicts Vampirism which heals her for 50% of the damage dealt. The remaining special will be her default special attack. Each costume may also change her basic attack patterns. If Tremor/Aftershock forces her to tag in, and Jacqui hasn't had a change to select her costume, she will fight with her default costume (black), using the default basic and special attacks until she tags in again and pick a ninja costume.
Interactions
Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Jacqui Briggs. Having a card that "counters" Jacqui Briggs does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good with
- Kenshi/Prime: Jacqui counts as both a Martial Artist character and a Spec Ops character, therefore she boosts Kenshi's attack and health by 40%.
- Takeda/Shirai Ryu: Takeda directly boosts Jacqui's attack, health and critical hit damage by 30%.
- Characters that benefit Martial Artists and Spec Ops, such as Scorpion/Ninjutsu and Sonya Blade/Demolition.
Good against
- Jacqui counters most classes in the game, but she especially destroys Outworld and Netherrealm characters: Rain and Sub-Zero costumes are effective against Outworld characters with Rain Jacqui gaining 50% basic damage and Sub-Zero Jacqui gaining 50% critical damage. Ermac and Tremor costumes are effective against Netherrealm characters with Ermac Jacqui reflecting damage from blocked specials and Tremor Jacqui gaining 30% Lethal Blow Chance.
- Characters that count as multiple classes: This gives Jacqui more flexibility in choosing what costume to use. Raiden/Klassic especially, as he counts as Martial Artist, Spec Ops and Outworld.
- Erron Black/Black Dragon (and future Nomad characters): Nomad characters count as all classes at once, meaning Jacqui can use any costume, she wants, to counter Erron Black.
- Debuffs: Rain Jacqui’s Dispel on Special Attack 1 of Rain variation will remove any negative effects from her apart from Cripple.
Countered by
- Elder God characters with single class, such as Raiden/Thunder God: Jacqui has no costume that counters Elder God class.
- Kitana/Assassin: Despite being an Outworld character, Kitana is immune to critical hits, meaning Sub-Zero Jacqui’s Critical Damage will have no effect on her.
- Kano/Commando: Kano is immune to the Blind on Reptile Jacqui’s Special 2.
- Scorpion/Kold War: Scorpion is immune to the fire effects from Scorpion Jacqui.
- Kintaro/Shokan Warrior: Kintaro and his teammates can resist the fire effects from Scorpion Jacqui.
- Raiden/Dark: Raiden can reserve the effects of Power Drain (counting Frostbite) and DOT from Scorpion Jacqui, Sub-Zero Jacqui and Reptile Jacqui.
- Liu Kang/Klassic, Jade/MK11 & Raiden/MK11: Same as Dark Raiden, with Liu Kang gaining Basic Damage in place of Power Drain, Critical Damage in place of Poison and Healing from Fire. MK11 Jade heals from DOTs, including Fire from Scorpion Jacqui and Poison from Reptile Jacqui, spreading this to MK11 teammates. MK11 Raiden is also immune to the possible power drain effects from Scorpion Jacqui, also spreading it to MK11 teammates.
- Sonya Blade/Kombat Cup: Sonya is immune to the Stun from Tremor Jacqui’s Special 2.
- Reptile/Klassic, D'Vorah/Prime & D'Vorah/Swarm Queen: All of them are immune to Reptile Jacqui’s Poison on Combo Ender, with Klassic Reptile spreading this immunity to Outworld teammates.
- Tremor/Aftershock: As stated in Strategy, he can force her to fight with no passive temporarily.
- Takeda/Ronin, Kenshi/Ronin, Erron Black/Gunslinger, Executioner Axe & Combat Shotgun: These characters and equipment pieces will deal damage to Martial Artist and Spec Ops, which are both of Kosplay Jacqui’s classes.
