Strategy[]

Black Dragon Kano (Formerly Cutthroat Kano) used to be one of the worst characters with a totally useless passive in combat. After Update 2.3 however, he has since been drastically improved. Not only is he a Diamond character that can be sold back for Souls that makes getting him worth again but also has a more practical passive than before.

Interactions[]

Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Kano. Having a card that "counters" Kano does not mean it is always a good choice.

Good With[]

Black Dragon Team: Kano can gain 2 Bars of Power from Tremor and Kabal at the start of the match. Tremor helps Kano deal more damage against Crippled or Weakened enemies and Kabal can prevent Jade/Assassin and Jason Voorhees/Nightmare from evading their Special attacks and combo enders.
Kitana/Day of the Dead: Since Kano is an Outworld character, Kitana can help him regenerate upon any resurrection or knockout, teammate or enemy.
Mileena/Ravenous: Since Kano can inflict Bleed on his special attack 2, he and Mileena can deal even more DOT damage against opponents.
Shao Kahn/Konqueror: Shao Kahn will throw his hammer at an opponent on Outworld teammate tag-in, including Black Dragon Kano.

Good Against[]

Tanya/Treacherous: Since Kano’s combo enders can cripple, Tanya will be unable to perform a Special Attack and break some equipment.

Countered By[]

Cassie Cage/Undercover, Kitana/Ronin, Katana & Champion's Nunchaku equipments: These characters and the equipment pieces deal more damage against Outworld characters including Kano.
D'Vorah/Standard & Kitana/Day of the Dead: Both characters are immune to Kano’s bleed on Special 2.
Jacqui Briggs/Kosplay (Rain & Sub-Zero): Rain Jacqui deals more basic damage and Sub-Zero Jacqui deals more critical damage against Outworld characters including Kano.
Jade/Assassin: If Kano isn't teamed up with Black Dragon Kabal, it is more than likely that Jade will evade his Crippling and Weakening Combo Enders.
Jade/MK11, Raiden/Dark and Skarlet: All of these characters heal from Kano’s Bleeds, with Jade spreading this to MK11 teammates and Skarlet needing to equip the Vial of Infinite Blood.
Liu Kang/Klassic: Liu Kang turns Kano’s Bleeds into critical attack boosts without taking too much damage.
Mileena/Piercing: Mileena gains a Bar of Power from Kano’s Bleed.
Raiden/MK11: Raiden can disable combo enders, making Kano cannot inflict Weaken or Cripple.
