Strategy[]

Unlike his Balanced counterpart, this Kenshi trades off support for a little bit of offense. On tag-in, Kenshi ambushes his opponent with an unblockable attack that sets them on fire, which deals damage-over-time and also drain a small portion of their power over time. This could help in dealing a lot of damage as DOTs take away a percentage of the victim's maximum health. This could also help in buying Kenshi some time before his opponents strike with a strong special attack of their own. If he needs to, his SP1 can drain their power for good measure. If an opponent tags in at the same time as Kenshi, the ambush will have absolutely no effect.

Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Kenshi. Having a card that "counters" Kenshi does not mean it is always a good choice.

  • Raiden/Dark, Raiden/MK11, Jade/MK11 & Liu Kang/Klassic: All of them can reverse the effects of Kenshi's fire, healing from it instead. Dark Raiden himself would also gain power from the fire and Kenshi's SP1. MK11 Jade and Raiden spread immunity to Power Drain and DOT Healing to MK11 Teammates.
  • Kintaro/Shokan Warrior: Kintaro takes less damage from Kenshi's Fire.
  • Tanya/Treacherous: Tanya reduces the effects of Power Drain and Fire to herself and her teammates.
