Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Kenshi. Having a card that "counters" Kenshi does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good With[]
- Ronin Characters: If fully teamed up, Ronin characters gain 30-60% critical hit chance, 30-90% critical damage, and Kenshi having damage increase to Martial Artist characters.
- Scorpion/Ninjutsu & Sub-Zero/Cryomancer: Kenshi Gains 30% Attack from Scorpion and 30% Health from Sub-Zero.
- Kung Jin/Shaolin, Scorpion/Hellspawn, Wrath Hammer & Bloody Tomahawk: Kenshi can start match with extra power from these supports.
- Combat Shotgun: This equipment helps Kenshi deal even more damage against Martial Artist Opponents.
- Shadow Sash: This equipment makes the wearer receive less damage from special attacks and reduce opponent's block breaking chance, which works great with Kenshi's passive.
Good Against[]
- Kold War Characters. Ronin characters deal 10% more damage from them.
- Martial Artist Characters. Kenshi deals 30% more damage to them for each Ronin teammate.
- Kenshi/Ronin (himself), Noob Saibot/MK11 & Kintaro/Shokan Warrior: Part of these characters' passive relies on blocking special attacks, while due to Kenshi's passive, after blocking a special attack his attacks become unblockable, which counters their passives.

- Strike Force Characters: Ronin characters receive 10% more damage from them.
- Some Challenge Boss Characters: Boss Characters including Marksman Kung Jin or Dark Raiden are immune to Ronin Kenshi’s Unblockable attacks.
- Characters who have grapple or unblockable special attacks. Especially Jax Briggs/Klassic, Jax Briggs/Circle of Shadow, Raiden/Klassic and Raiden/Injustice 2 because all of their special attacks are grapple.
- Erron Black/Gunslinger: Kenshi cannot activate his unblockable and critical Passive if Erron Black performs the same kind of move on him with his special attack 2.
- Kenshi/Elder God, Scorpion/Hellspawn & Kitana/Assassin: All of these characters are immune to the Critical attacks from Ronin Kenshi’s Passive with Elder God Kenshi spreading this immunity to Elder God teammates. But Scorpion still takes more damage from Kenshi as he is a part Martial Artist.
- Sonya Blade/Kombat Cup: Sonya and Kombat Cup teammates are immune to Kenshi's Stun on Special Attack 2.
- Shadow Sash, Frost Mask and Body of Steel equipments: These equipments reduce unblockable chances, which makes Kenshi's passive less effective.
