Strategy[]
Kitana's high attack and recovery but low health and toughness along with her passive makes her a glass cannon for hit-and-run tactics. She can generate power faster than most characters, giving her an edge in offense. On tag-in, Kitana will perform an unblockable attack that damages the opponent in small hits while also applying bleed that takes away a small portion of their maximum health over time and can KO an opponent if their health is low enough. If an opponent tags in at the same time as her or perform specials that has an extended invulnerability frame, she will not be able to utilize her ambush and will not apply bleed. Her SP2 can knock out an opponent and grant her a damage boost but has a refractory period that she can only block the following hit from opponent. Thankfully, however, it can be used at long range, giving her some space to close in on her enemy without them hitting first.
Interactions[]
Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Kitana. Having a card that "counters" Kitana does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good With[]
- Assassin Characters. With full team, Assassins get 10-30% lethal blow chance against opponents below 50% health, 20-40% chance to evade combo-ender and special attacks and 10-30% more power generation.
- Kotal Kahn/Sun God & Reptile/Nimble: Kitana gains 30% Attack from Kotal Kahn and 30% Health from Reptile.
- Mileena/Ravenous: They both bleed on Tag-In and can deal more damage on all the bleeds that they deal.
- Mileena/Klassic: Because she is a female character, Kitana can heal if Mileena knocks out an opponent on her team.
- Reptile/Klassic: Kitana gains immunity to Poison and increased critical hit chance to poisoned opponents from Reptile.
- Killer Jacket equipment: This equipment gives a chance to gain Shield when hit by lethal attack. With Kitana being immune to crits but still vulnerable lethal attacks, getting Shield will benefit her much more.
Good Against[]
- Circle of Shadow characters.
- Critical Chance Characters: Assassin Kitana is immune to critical hits.
Countered By[]
- Raiden/Dark, Liu Kang/Klassic, Jade/MK11, & Raiden/MK11: All of these characters are immune to Kitana's Power Drain or heal/get critical hit chance from Kitana's Bleed on Tag-In.
- Day of the Dead Characters including Kitana/Day of the Dead: Day of the Dead Kitana is immune to Assassin Kitana's Bleed, furthermore she and her Day of the Dead teammates deal more damage to Assassin Characters because Assassins can evade only 10%-30% Day of the Dead attacks.
- Cassie Cage/Undercover, Kitana/Ronin, Katana & Champion's Nunchaku: All of these characters and the equipment pieces deal more damage versus Outworld cards, which include Kitana.
- Kano/Commando: Kano is immune to the blind of Kitana's X-Ray.
- Mileena/Piercing: Mileena gains a bar of power from Assassin Kitana's Bleed Tag Attack.
