Quest Mode with Secret Klassic Reptile Tower

Quests are a new game mode introduced in Update 1.16. In this game mode, players can choose a certain amount (up to five) of characters to send on quests, which will give them rewards when finished. The quests last from 1 hour to 1 day, and they have a range of difficulty from Low to Extreme, where a higher difficulty and duration give better rewards.

The Quest mode introduces currencies such as the Renown, which is a percentage that increases each time a quest is finished succesfully, and resets to zero everytime it reaches 100% or a quest fails, having to climb to 100% all over again. Also, this mode adds the Reptile Eyes, only on his limited event.

The quest mode has two maps: the Outworld map and the Netherrealm Map which has much harder, yet rewarding quests. Both maps’ quests have an ongoing story involving characters from all eras like Onaga, Sareena, Fujin, Erron Black, Shang Tsung, D’Vorah, etc.; the story has entirely no effect on the gameplay, but certain points of the story determine the character restrictions and/or quest bonuses of each one. For example, Quest 47 tells about being attacked by Kytinn warriors, so D’Vorah characters cannot do that quest.

Mechanics[]

Questmode

Quest mode as appears on the main menu.

Quest Mode has some advantages and disadvantages. A couple of characters, classes or equipment types may be chosen to give you Quest Bonus from 10% to 50%. The higher your percentage is, the higher your chance of success is. You can stack it up to 100%.

The chances your characters have at completing quests successfully may depend on how strong that character is (level, fusion and stats) and their equipment that they're using (both type and fusion of equipment matters). Hence, players should experiment with which equipment that is suitable for that character and levelling them up to become stronger.

Please note that some characters may be "Restricted" from some quests, because they might be the antagonists (The fighters, who are on the bad side). In quests you can only put protagonists (The fighters, who fight for the good side). After you choose your characters and their equipment, you can spend Souls on Potions for better rewards. After you are done with that, you start the quest. You can activate 3 quests maximum.

While the quests are active, you can't use the characters or the equipment sent on quest while on the different game modes, however Faction Wars allows those characters and the equipment can be used only if you put them out of the character doing the quest in the Edit Team mode. You can also spend Souls on Speed Elixirs, which instantly finish the quest. At the end of each quest, you receive Koins, Souls, Renown and sometimes Equipment, Support cards and even characters, plus a fragment of text that continues the story. After Renown reaches 100%, you receive a “level up” and rewards like Souls, Koins, Supports, Equipment, Bronze, Silver and Gold Characters (including exclusive golds such as Mileena/Vampiress and Jason Voorhees/Slasher). However, Rare equipment and character reward chances are very low.

Strategy[]

Do not spend souls on elixirs or potions, let the quests end in time and form since you are rewarded with free souls, no matter how; wasting them on these boosts will not give you any earnings compared to the rewards given if letting the quests run alone.

The most accepted strategy is to run three 1-hour quests all day long (repeating them each time they’re completed) and then run three 8-hours quests when sleeping. This is because repeating 1-hour quests yield the most souls compared to running the 24h ones. By making basic math: the best 1-day quests normally yield 35 souls each, so doing only 24h missions will yield ~105 souls/day. The 1h ones at high/very high difficulty yield 9 souls each, and doing them all day long will yield ~432 souls/day [(9x3)x16 repeats] and adding the 8h quests at night, will give ~45 souls more, being 477 souls/day. Those stats are for outworld, while the Netherrealm 1-hour quests yield 10 souls each, increasing the number of souls to 480 per day with only them.

Good quests for grinding are the following:

  • Outworld: 39, 47 and 49 (1 hour each). 33, 40, 41 (8 hours each).
  • Netherrealm: 90, 91, 112 (1 hour each).

If you’re a starting player, you may use the low/medium difficulty 1h missions so you can still receive like +200 souls per day, ideal to buy one Gold Pack per day to build up your roster. 4-hour quests have the worst proportion of rewards.

Caro’s Guidance is an equipment exclusive to Quest Mode, its utility outside this game mode is low. All the usefulness of this piece lies on the reduction of the quest duration, so one can use it simultaneously in the following way:

  • Put Caro’s Guidance on a character and start a quest using it.
  • Go to that character’s card back and take off that equipment.
  • Equip it to another character and start a new quest.
  • Repeat the process for a third quest.
  • If done well, all three quests running should have less time to be completed.

The Reptile Event[]

Reptilesummon

Summon screen that appears when touching the green "?" tower.

After Update 1.18, there is a certain event that is held at a random time (shown by a moon in the Quest Mode layout) that makes the quests give out a special reward known as Reptile's Eyes, through a random chance. Collecting enough of them will cause a secret green tower to appear which has the “?” sign and holds a secret boss fight with Reptile/Klassic in the exclusive Pit arena. Players can also access this tower in the main screen once they collected enough eyes. It is a time-limited event such as Relic Hunt, Lin Kuei Tower or Tower of Horror and it rotates with them. This event is only held on the Outworld map, none of the netherrealm quests will give Eyes as reward. This game mode is a reference to the secret fight against Reptile on the first Mortal Kombat in The Pit stage.

When having enough eyes, players will need to first summon Klassic Reptile by tapping on the 'Summon' button in the secret tower, after which, they can proceed to prepare for the fight against him. When the tower appears, chances of obtaining eyes through quests will be gone, and beating his boss battle will award players with a copy of his card; after that, the moon will immediately disappear. You can see how many days are left by tapping the moon at the right of the map.

The number of eyes required to summon Reptile is incremented each time he is being fused; one can see the progress at the upper-left corner of the map (previously it showed only a percentage and not the exact number). The best strategy is to do 1-day quests since those have the best chance of obtaining eyes, and putting Caro’s Guidance on all of them is a must. When getting closer to the eye's goal (for example: 148/150 eyes) it's better to do 24h quests so when they yield eyes, you will have a lot remaining for the next time the moon shows up.

Outworld Quests[]

It’s the starting point of the Quest Mode, and it has the easier quests. It has the Towers 1 to 10. The story revolves around hunting ancient Relics and fighting against the well-known outworld enemies such as Baraka, Mileena, Shang Tsung, etc.

Below is a spreadsheet with a table containing detailed data about each quest in the Outworld.

Note: some quests yield Caro’s Guidance or Rare equipments as reward, but at the same time have a chance to drop random common/uncommon/rare pieces as stated on the other missions.

Netherrealm Quests[]

Netherrealmquests

Netherrealm Map with Towers 11-14 unlocked.

As of Update 2.0, the Quest Mode was expanded to include a Netherrealm Map accesible from a portal in Outworld, with towers containing quests, which are way harder than the Outworld ones. The Netherrealm requires the players to have gold or diamond characters at fusion 5 and greater, having the last towers require FX cards. It has the Towers 11 to 18.

In Netherrealm the bonuses for diamond characters is quite common, so completing this map is very hard for newcomers. These missions are hard, but more rewarding than the outworld ones since they give more souls and renown when completed. Also, when leveling up Renown, the rewards are even better: the souls and characters are more frequent.

The story of the netherrealm quests revolves around Onaga, Motaro, Drahmin, Shinnok and other infernal enemies from the MK saga and surviving the dangers from this hellish place where your party has to find and save all the Kamidogu.

Below is the spreadsheet with a table containing detailed data of every quest found in the Netherrealm.

Note: all quests allow only golds and diamonds, fusion higher than F5. Later towers require higher fusion level.
