Strategy[]
Kold War Scorpion (now called Kold Scorpion as of Update 5.1) is a formidable foe, especially in a full Kold War Team. His basic attacks are fast and easy to chain, not to mention the deadly chaining from his SP1. His SP2 inflicts fire DOT to the entire enemy team, effectively wearing down their health and power. The shield on his SP2 is also very useful and can protect him from incoming attacks from the enemy team.
To make great use of his powerful SP2, Blaze's Life Force is an excellent choice for him, as it can further boost his team-wide fire DOT. Block breaking equipment are also recommended to chain his basic attacks easier.

Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Scorpion. Having a card that "counters" Scorpion does not mean it is always a good choice.

- Kold War Characters.
- Mileena/Vampiress: Mileena gives Netherrealm teammates extra damage against Bleeding opponents.
- Noob Saibot/MK11: Noob Saibot gives Netherrealm teammates +50% Critical and Lethal Attack damage.
- Shinnok/Vengeful: Shinnok gives Netherrealm teammates 20% Critical hit chance.
- Bloody Tomahawk and Wrath Hammer: Scorpion can start with 1 Bar of Power for each of these supports.
Good Against[]
- Day of the Dead Characters.
- Sonya Blade/Kold War: Since Scorpion's Flame Shield can deal damage to the entire enemy team, he could easily wipe out Sonya and her teammates clean.
- Characters who deal Fire: Kold War Scorpion is immune to Fire.
- Kung Lao/Circle of Shadow, Kung Jin/Shaolin, Kenshi/Balanced, Scorpion/Hellspawn, Kitana/Mournful, Ermac/Master of Souls and Rain: His area effect fire can drain starting power of the entire team.
Countered By[]
- Ronin Characters.
- Shield Break debuff: Shield Break removes Scorpion's Shield from his SP2 as well as the Ice Armor if he is teamed up with Sonya Blade/Kold War.
- Raiden/Dark and Liu Kang/Klassic: Both can heal from the fire from Scorpion's Flame Shield, allowing Raiden to get to his X-Ray faster, and for Liu Kang to access his secret Special 2 (which is only activated if Liu Kang is on fire)
- Cassie Cage/Undercover and Johnny Cage/Strike Force: Both characters deal more damage against Netherrealm characters.
- Jacqui Briggs/Cybernetic and Scorpion/Hellspawn: Both characters take less damage from Netherrealm characters.
- Jacqui Briggs/Kosplay: Jacqui's Tremor and Ermac variations have advantages over Netherrealm characters.
- Jade/MK11: Jade and her MK11 teammates can heal from Scorpion's fire.
- Kintaro/Shokan Warrior: Kintaro and his teammates become less effective against Scorpion's Fire making it difficult for Scorpion to apply burns.
- Liu Kang/Fire God: Liu Kang can gain Dragon Fire and heal from Scorpion's Fire.
- Scorpion/Kold War (Himself): Enemy Kold War Scorpion is immune to Kold War Scorpion's Fire.
- Tremor/Aftershock: Tremor grants himself and Martial Artist teammates unblockable chance against Netherrealm opponents, including Scorpion.
