Strategy[]
This Shinnok is one of the characters with the highest stats in the game for the Gold tier. He can be safely used as an attacker despite his slow combos, due to the damage his basic attacks deal and the powerful Special Attacks he can perform, being SP1 a dispel (making him good against DOT dealers) and SP2 deal Fire DOT but has a really high damage; also using Shinnok as an attacker gives more probability to trigger the Shadow Armor of his passive (because the chance to activate it is really low). Otherwise, he can be use as a defense tank by absorbing and taking away DOTs using Dispel and make the opponents bleed because of his armor, plus being more protected from enemy's Special Attacks.
Interactions[]
Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Shinnok. Having a card that "counters" Shinnok does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good with[]
- Netherrealm Characters.
- Triborg/Sektor (LK-9T9) and Goro/Tigrar Fury: Goro allows Shinnok to apply fire to the enemy when he tags in and Sektor augments the fire damage of Shinnok's Special Attack 2.
- Kintaro/Shokan Warrior: Kintaro gives Shinnok increased resistance to Fire while he can be a fire dealer.
- Quan Chi/Warlock: He grants Shinnok one resurrect while Shinnok gives Critical Chance to Quan Chi.
- Mileena/Vampiress: Both Mileena and Shinnok (with his Shadow Armor) can cause bleed, and Mileena gives 50% damage boost to Shinnok when he bleeds the opponent.
- Noob Saibot/MK11: Noob Saibot gives 50% more damage to crit and lethal attacks for Netherrealm class.
Good Against[]
- Special Attacks: his Shadow Armor (if being worn) protects him by halfing the incoming damage from SPs and dealing Bleed if successfully blocked.
Countered by[]
- Jacqui Briggs/Cybernetic & Scorpion/Hellspawn: Both characters take less damage from Netherrealm Characters including Shinnok.
- Jacqui Briggs/Kosplay (Ermac & Tremor): Ermac Jacqui reflects special damage and Tremor Jacqui deals Lethal Blows on basic attacks against Netherrealm characters including Shinnok.
- Tremor/Aftershock: Tremor grants himself and fellow Martial Artists Unblockable Chance against Netherrealm Characters including Shinnok.
- Liu Kang/Klassic, Raiden/Dark & Jade/MK11: All of these characters can heal from Shinnok’s Fire on Special 2, limiting his effectiveness against them.
- Kintaro/Shokan Warrior: Kintaro and his teammates reduce the effectiveness of Shinnok’s Fire on Special 2.
- Scorpion/Kold War: Scorpion is immune to Shinnok’s Fire on Special 2.
- Jade/Assassin: She can evade Shinnok's combo enders, thus nullifying his possibilities to trigger the Shadow Armor.
- Characters resistant to bleed like Kitana/Day of the Dead & D'Vorah/Prime, or that benefit from Bleed like Jade/MK11, Skarlet/MK11 and Raiden/Dark.
- Cassie Cage/Strike Force: Shinnok's critical hit chance increase is useless against Cassie's passive on Tag.
