Shirai Ryu will always be your starter card alongside two random bronze cards and a silver card, no matter how many times you restart the game. For his passive, he gives other Martial Artist teammates a slight boost in attack which gives them a slight advantage in offense. His "Kunai" attack hits long range but without any additional effects. His "Clan Edge" attack also inflicts no additional effect. His basic combos are fast and swift but has slow recovery leaving him open to a counterattack. He complements well with other Martial Artist starters like Lin Kuei, Sub-Zero and Scorpion, and can be very powerful alongside Kung Lao/Shaolin Master.

Trivia[]
- The Shirai Ryu uses Scorpion's voice and movements, but his special attacks are unique.
- Before Update 1.8, Shirai Ryu's "Kunai" attack uses the Spin Tap quick time event instead of the Target.
- In the boss battle with Scorpion/Inferno, who is assisted by two Shirai Ryu, the tower allows you to play as Sub-Zero/Grandmaster, and normally after you KO the boss they would play a "stunned" animation which would lead to an interactive fatality. As this was the case when Scorpion was knocked out last. If Scorpion was knocked out first with any of the two Shirai Ryu defeated last, they would play the animation as well.
- Unfortunately, you can't give the Shirai Ryu a Fatality.
- Prior to Update 2.0, the Shirai Ryu costed 8,000 Koins.
