Please note that battles are highly situational: this section only mentions cards that have mechanics that, for any reason, are particularly effective with/against, or particularly ineffective against Terminator. Having a card that "counters" Terminator does not mean it is always a good choice.
Good With[]
- Scorpion/Strike Force: Terminator and Scorpion save each other simultaneously. Scorpion's save works great with Terminator's suicidal passive, whereas Terminator tanking special attacks prevent Scorpion from receiving high damage.
- Dark Mantle equipment: Terminator can gain Invulnerability on his tag-in save, taking no damage from special attack he tanked. If Dark Mantle is maxed, the duration of Invulnerability is enough for tag cooldown, allowing Terminator to take no damage from his save, and has a chance to freeze the opponent if they try to use special attack again.
- Recovery boost equipments such as Champion's Bracers, Ouroboros Ring and Geek Defense: Increased recovery makes Terminator regain health faster while tagged-out, making him shield special attacks more frequently.
- Maxed Favorite Toy or/and Shintai of the North equipments: When maxed, these equipments can give a bar of power on tag-in, making Terminator gain a lot of power and an opportunity to do good damage when his passive activates.
Good Against[]
- Krushing Blows, X-Rays and Fatal Blows: Terminator cancels all of these moves used against him. Those characters most effected are:
- Ermac/Master of Souls: Ermac's X-Ray is rendered useless against Terminator, limiting his effectiveness with a full Outworld Team.
- Kabal/MK11 & Kabal/Black Dragon: Whenever either teammates with either Kabal get knocked out, their free Fatal Blows are rendered useless. Also, their Krushing Blows are rendered useless against Terminator.
- Raiden/MK11: Raiden's Krushing Blow combo enders are rendered useless if they are performed on Terminator.
- Jade/MK11 & Sub-Zero/MK11: Their Krushing Blows on Special 2 are rendered useless against Terminator, preventing their additional Stun effects.
- Sonya Blade/Kombat Cup: Terminator's can save his teammates even if red carded by Sonya, wasting part of her passive.
Countered By[]
- Characters with unblockable or grapple special attacks: Grapples bypass Terminator's block damage mitigation.
- Noob Saibot/Lizard: Noob Saibot can force tag-in a character, making Terminator can't shield his teammates.
- Erron Black/Gunslinger, Takeda/Ronin & Executioner Axe: These characters and equipments deal more damage against Spec Ops, which is Terminator’s class.
- Scorpion/Klassic and Tremor/Aftershock: They can pull out the most wounded character of the opposing team, which makes Terminator can't shield his teammates and recover health if he is pulled right after he tanked special attacks, or at less than 30% health.
